Game Update August 4, 2020

Between 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM UTC+2, the game servers will restart for an update to be deployed.

Update Changelog

This update includes a part of the changes to weapons outlined in the big balancing update we had announced earlier. The main balancing update still requires testing—if you haven't already, please consider becoming an official tester!


Weapon Characteristics Refinement
  • Added unique default attack visuals and audio for each weapon in the game to match their characteristic. Before this change, the standard attack of all weapons looked and sounded the same (apart from the frequency of shots fired).
  • Improved the Showstopper's visual effects.
  • Greatly improved the Flaming Colt's visual effects.
  • Projectiles will now change course and explode in mid air and when the shot missed the target.

Dino Storm News
  • Added an RSS-based news window that will always display the latest posts from the News & Announcements, Dev Shack and Events & Contests sections of this forum.
    • When posts arrive with the news window closed, these unread posts will be marked as "new" the next time you open the news window.
    • The arrival of new posts is signaled by the "Dino Storm News" notification task in the game, just like before.
    • If you chose to dismiss the news task at some point and would then like to open the news window, you can always bring it up at the Newsstand in central Dinoville, just like before.
    • Posts that are too long to fit the news window are marked as being truncated in the lower right corner. Clicking the "Read More" button will take you to the full post in the forum.

  • Removed camera shake when the target suffers a critical hit. The camera will only shake on criticals when your own dinosaur has taken a critical hit.

  • Removed superfluous camera shake effect for skills damage which was already handled through hits. This caused the camera to shake when bleed and burn damage was applied to the target.
  • Fixed that weapons were always being aimed at the target's feet rather than their center.
  • Weapons now correctly stop firing when an attack ends.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause the visual effects associated with dinosaur and weapon skills to not be displayed the first time in a session that the skill was used.
